How often do we worry about things that are out of our control?  There’s a constant flow of information aimed to grab our attention and most of it is negative.

The weather is out of our control yet we worry about it.  Global warming is out of our control yet there’s nothing that we can do, especially in the short term, about it.  Our country’s economy is out of our control.  Let’s stop focusing on these things!

Think about some things that you can control.  Here are a few that I can think of.

Attitude

You can choose to have a positive attitude and make the most of what you have.  Learn to be content and understand that your starting point can be now.  Stop paying attention to the world and all of the distractions.  Ignore the news and cultivate your personal environment so that you can focus on the relationships and information that will bring value to you and your family.

Income

You absolutely have control over your income!  If you're well and able then you can choose to make more or less.  This goes back to your attitude of course and having faith in yourself and in God.  You deserve more and you do have opportunities to make more money.

Spending

Take a look at what you're spending today by taking a month to track your spending to understand where the money is going.  You'll quickly see that there are places where you can spend less.  You can control your spending.  Just pay attention and start to control your spending.

Saving

As you control your spending then you can add to your savings.  Don't believe that you've got to live paycheck to paycheck and believe that you can build an emergency fund to give you some freedom and peace of mind.  Having savings in place is a must if you want to gain control of your financial situation.

Focus on the things that you can control and leave the other things alone.  Worrying gets your nowhere so get to a place where you can stop.  You can stop worrying by focusing on positive things daily and making it a point to avoid and really despise things that steal your time.

You can gain control of your finances and your life.  Don’t believe the lie that you can’t.  Make today the day that you take control!

God Is In Control

I’ve learned to let things go and understand that God is in control.  He’s got a plan and it is surely one of goodness.  You can always come back to this fact when you’re down and feel like the world is on your shoulders.  You don’t have to carry the weight so let go of the things that you can’t handle.

Josh thanks for the challenge… it is easy to get distracted focusing on things we can’t change.
